Dan + Shay released their brand new single, "I Should Probably Go To Bed," in the early hours of Friday (July 31st) and later that afternoon, the video as well. The clip was a true feat to pull off under the best of circumstances, but as Dan Smyers tells us EXCLUSIVELY, the current pandemic made things even trickier. ["It's our favorite video we've ever done by far. It was really cool. It was crazy, like so much went into it. We had this like very ambitious vision of, 'Hey, we want to be flying. We want to do something extraordinarily cinematic to kind of match the aesthetic of the song,' and we didn't really think of the logistics behind that. It was like, okay, how are we actually gonna fly, especially given the circumstances of this pandemic? It was like how do we organize a crew, and fortunately there were great precautions taken. There was a COVID compliance officer on site and there were masks and social distancing, and all the stunts were real."] SOUNDCUE (:31 OC: . . . stunts were real.)
"I Should Probably Go To Bed" will be included on the duo's next studio project. Dan and Shay Mooney began writing the song earlier this year and finished it during the quarantine lockdown. It was produced entirely by Dan, who also played every instrument and recorded it at his home studio in Nashville.
