It's official! Dolly Parton is headed into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this fall, along with fellow inductees in the Performers category including Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon. The big news was announced yesterday (Wednesday, May 4th). The class of 2022 will be inducted on November 5th at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
She responded to the news on social media yesterday writing, "I am honored and humbled by the fact that I have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course I will accept it gracefully. Thanks to everyone that voted for me and to everyone at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I will continue to work hard and try to live up to the honor."
Dolly originally tried to turn down her nomination, explaining that she did not feel that she had "earned that right" because she's a country artist, but she recently changed her mind, telling NPR, “I would just say thanks and I’ll accept it because the fans vote.”
The 37th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air at a future date on HBO and stream on HBO Max.
