Granger Smith's new album, Country Things, Volume 1, sees release today (Friday, Sept. 25th). The eight-song project features six songs co-written by Granger, and includes a guest appearance by the singer's alter ego, Earl Dibbles Jr.
Granger tells us EXCLUSIVELY that he opted to release two projects this year with fewer songs because he couldn't bring himself to eliminate any of the final 16. ["I had cut it down, the number of songs, as much as I could and I ended up with 16. There was too many stories I felt like needed to be told and I also felt like 16 songs was a lot to consume at once without missing over some stuff that might take you a second listen so it seemed to be a good idea to divide it in half but only have two months apart where the second volume came out at the end of November and hopefully people could digest that better."] SOUNDCUE (:30 OC: . . . digest that better.)
Country Things, Volume 1 features Granger's latest single, "That's Why I Love Dirt Roads."
This weekend, Granger joins headliner Kane Brown for the Encore Drive-In Night event airing at nearly 300 drive-in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on Saturday (Sept. 26th). He tells us: ["We'll be doing a virtual drive-in night. That's with Kane. That's pre-recorded. We went to Nashville and recorded that and then me and the band recorded our separate show in Texas as well so that'll be a neat deal."] SOUNDCUE (:12 OC: . . . a neat deal.)
Also on Saturday, Granger plays a live show at Gruene Hall in Gruene, TX, one of the few shows he's played all year. The outdoor concert will follow CDC-recommended COVID-19 guidelines.
