Tenille Townes is still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she's the new ACM New Female Artist of the Year. She learned the exciting news on Thursday (August 20th) from Keith Urban when he crashed a zoom call that she thought she was having with a reporter.
Now that she's had some time to absorb the win, Tenille can only describe it as "surreal." ["I think this feels especially surreal because as a kid, you know, I’d watch the ACMs and I would see my heroes performing and just think about what that could feel like far off, someday, and the fact that this someday has rolled around is incredibly surreal and just so amazing to me and it’s just really overwhelming to think about all that the ACM represents and mean to me."] SOUNDCUE (:29 OC: . . . mean to me.)
Tenille is also nominated for Musical Event of the Year for “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack and Elle King at this year’s ACM Awards, which will air from Nashville on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. She will also perform during the awards ceremony, which will be hosted for the first time by Keith Urban.
