Howard Jones is back with new music.
The ’80s synth pop star has just released the new track “Stand Up.” It’s the first single off his upcoming album, Global Citizen, due out sometime in 2027.
“‘Stand Up’ was born out of revisiting my original Jupiter-8 synthesiser which has just been repaired,” Jones says. “I rediscovered how much I love its analogue sound. It’s my favourite synth and features on ‘What is Love?,’ ‘New Song,’ and ‘Things Can Only Get Better."”
Jones adds, “The key message of ‘Stand Up’ is that everyone is important and we must not let others shut our voices down … stand up and be counted.”
“Stand Up” is available now via digital outlets.
Jones is getting ready to hit the road. He’ll kick off the Things Can Only Get Better tour on July 19 in Napa, California. The tour, which also features Wang Chung, The English Beat and Modern English, runs until Aug. 23 in Ontario, Canada. A complete list of dates can be found at HowardJones.com.
